Taxonomic Comments

This record is for the narrow treatment of Morella caroliniensis, excluding M. pensylvanica, as recognized in Kartesz (1999) and Weakley et al. (2025). Bornstein's treatment in FNA (vol. 3) also recognized distinct taxa, treated as Myrica heterophylla (=Morella caroliniensis) and Myrica pensylvanica. Haines (2011) recognizes Morella caroliniensis more broadly, including M. pensylvanica in synonymy.
