Newfoundland to British Columbia, south to Florida and Texas, with disjunct populations in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming (Crook County) and the Yellowstone Plateau (Park County).

Ecology & Habitat

Diagnostic Characteristics

The numerous spikes, in an open inflorescence subtended by several leaf-like bracts, and the elongate flower bristles separate this species from other SCIRPUS in our area.
